Finding the Right Business for your job!

Our 9 step guide on how to find and employ the right businesses in Canada

1. Available & interested businesses:

The first step is to find appropriate businesses for the work in question. It is easy to waste valuable time searching through the internet, or phone book and phoning various companies and describing your job repeatedly to businesses that are not necessarily available for, capable or interested in your particular job. At POST N’QUOTE we make this process easy, simply POST your job ad for free and we will contact the right businesses in your area for you. You will receive QUOTES/estimates by email from capable businesses that are both interested and available for your particular job.

2. Customer Feedback:

The second step is to check what the previous customers thought about the service they received. We can help here as well. The QUOTES/estimates that you receive will contain the business’ contact information, the actual quote/estimate and any other details that the business considers relevant. Most importantly when you receive your quote/estimate you will also receive the feedback (if any) other Post N’ Quote user’s have made about the business in question, which you should use to form an opinion about the quality of the business, allowing you to find the best quality and price.

New Businesses to Post N’ Quote: Some businesses may not yet have feedback by any of our user’s. When businesses register with us they provide us with TWO references, feel free to contact the business in question and ask them for their references. You should feel free to contact these references and if possible ask to see work carried out. See our SAFETY guide for more information.

3. Get a selection of quotes:

You will have received a set of QUOTES/estimates from relevant companies, and will keep receiving quotes until the date specified on your Posting or if you would like to stop receiving quotes before that date please email us. It is important that you get a selection of estimates so that you can compare the offers. You should pick what you think is the business that offers the best price to quality ratio.

4. Quotes & Estimates:

Once a business has given you a quote/estimate via your Post N’ Quote account, ask them to put their quote in writing. Make sure that the QUOTES/estimates you receive are on headed paper with a full address and telephone number. Remember estimates unlike quotes are not legally binding documents.

5. Getting the contract:

(mostly pertains to contractors/tradesmen work):

The contract itself is a legally binding document, and can be used in the event of a complaint. Make sure to get a detailed contract that includes the following. What exactly is being done? For example: all work including any preparatory work should be included, when it will begin, how long it should take and how the site should be left.

  • The specific materials that will be used for the job.
  • The final cost. Do not pay for services before they have been completed. In some cases it may be appropriate to pay a small deposit or to pay for the job in parts after satisfactory completion of various stages. See our Safety page for more information.
  • Check whether the contract is only valid for a certain time period.
  • Never sign anything you do not fully understand.

6. Verify Businesses:

(mostly pertains to contractor/tradesmen work):

When hiring a business please always confirm the authenticity of the company. A good place to always check for this is the Better Business Bureau. If hiring a licensed trade always verify they are in fact licensed, if dealing with a designated professional understand what their designation is for, and ensure that they in fact have their designation.

7. Insurance:

(mostly pertains to contractor/tradesmen work):

Check that the company has insurance backed warranty for the work. This should cover any damage. Make sure that either the company or your own insurance covers death and personal injury. Ask each business who gives you a quote about guarantees, particularly any which are insurance-backed.

8. Your feedback

If you found your company through Post N’ Quote, don't forget to provide feedback about the service that you received. Please see our business feedback page for more details and instructions.

9. Problems:

If things go wrong first speak to the company if you think things are incorrect. Try to sort problems out as soon as they arise. If the matter is not resolved after this, put your complaint in writing. If you are still experiencing problems, seek further advice from professionals such as the Better Business Bureau. Please ensure that you leave feedback on the business as this will also prevent them from making mistakes in the future, it will limit their credibility with other user’s/clients, and/or will ban them from accessing hundreds of potential jobs via the Post N’ Quote website.

ALWAYS REMEMBER: Always remember that one of the biggest assets a business possesses is their reputation. When a business tenders for a job from our website, a POSTIIVE Reference is usually what helps a businesses gain confidence from potential new clients and can ultimately get them the job, NEGATIVE feedback usually can cripple a business; it prevents them from gaining trust with our other user’s. “Businesses that use our site want to ensure that all of their clients (that are our users) are 100% satisfied.”
